The BIG move

Ah, the BIG move. Well, actually, it's the shortest move we've ever done. We moved a few hundred feet--from one building on Walnut Hill's campus to a different one. The challenging part of this one was that we moved from the first floor to the fourth floor. Fortunately, we had lots of help! That, and lots of moving experience. Phil and I have moved seven times in the past eight years--Ugh! We hope to stay here for a while.

Wesley was very intrigued by all of the boxes, so we let him experience one firsthand. He liked the texture of the cardboard and the sounds it made.

This also intrigued Dewey. Fortunately, he didn't pounce on the mysterious object making all of that noise!

On our breaks from packing, Wes and I would watch the construction in our backyard, where they're building a new 40 student, 3 Dorm Parent Apartment and 4 Townhouse building.

The construction workers loved seeing him and they became good friends!

Grammie and Great Grandma came the day before , the day after, and a week after our move and we really appreciated their help! Here they are surrounded by all of our stuff in our old place. And so begins our move out of Clark...

and into the truck!
Mary Lou was gracious enough to watch Wesley on the moving day for us, and they enjoyed watching people and boxes go back-and-forth, back-and-forth.Once the first load was in the apartment we set up a home base for Mary Lou and Wesley.

Because our new place is an attic apartment, the stairs are tricky and all of the big stuff had to come through a hole in the third floor ceiling into our storage area. We are so grateful that there were many hands here to help!

Pizza break!
Chris and Jacob came to help and it was great to have them!
Grandpa came to drop off a washer and dryer (Yahoooooo!!!) and Wes loved seeing him!
Ahhhh! Our things are upstairs, but now what do we do? It's hard to know where to start!

Mange settled in quickly--she'll go wherever the soft blanket is.
Well, most of our stuff is upstairs. We were all too exhausted to get this last load upstairs and so it remained on the first floor--I didn't want anyone getting hurt.
This is our old building, Clark.
The building on the right is the new dorm, still under construction, and the building to the left is Westerly, our new home. Our apartment is the ENTIRE fourth floor! We LOVE the space!

The day after we moved, friends from Syracuse, Brenden and Karen, came to visit. We ordered take-out :)
First bath in the new place! The rest of his have been in the big tub with Mom.

Dewey is enjoying our skylights, but liked it better when the boxes were like this so he could see right out of them.
About 2 days after we moved, I noticed that Phil was being very quiet in the living room, and when I went out to see what he was up to, here he was, fast asleep. We're both feeling a bit tired!
So is Wes and Dewey--they loved napping together.
Four days after we moved, more friends came to visit--Sandi, Fred and Gavin came after their trip to the Red Sox game. Gavin thought Wes' feet were very interesting! This time we were settled enough to actually cook--no take-out necessary.

One of the first areas to come together was Wes' play area and his room.
We all love his play area and enjoy hanging out there with him!

I promise to post pictures of our place once it's all set....we're getting there!
