"Camping" at the Sheraton
So last week was a very exciting, and stressful, week. The sprinkler system in our dorm went off and then exploded, causing a flood in half of the building. All 50 of our girls and the three sets of dorm parents moved into the Sheraton for a week when the damage was assessed and construction began. Some of you can understand the logistics involved in getting 50 girls from school to the hotel (which was about 20 minutes away), then up in the morning in time to eat breakfast, board the bus and then off to school again. We did all of this while caring for Wes and keeping our day jobs--we're tired!
We're very fortunate that none of our belongings were effected, but that was not the case for all of our residents. A handful of rooms were pretty much a complete loss, and half of our building is under major construction as we speak. Fortunately, no one had to stay in the hotel for more than a week, as the school was able to find space for them in various places on campus.
