Veteran's Day Weekend in Connecticut

We spent Veteran's Day weekend in Connecticut visiting family and friends--it was great to see everyone! Sadly, we were also on duty in the dorm, so Phil stayed home to take care of our other 50 "kids."

Our first stop was Grammie and Grandpa Joe's house.
We were so excited to see Jane, Mike and Amelie who were in town from Florida!It was the first time all of the (living) cousins had been together in quite some time! Here is Jimmy, Sharon, Jane, my Mom, my Gram, and my Aunt Anne.

Amelie and Wes had a lot of fun playing together.

Wes was especially interested in her blonde hair, and frustrated with me for not letting him pull it.He was also interested in the cool sparkles on her shirt, and the food she was feeding him wasn't bad either.

We've been trying really hard to stay away from plastics. It's tough--there's so many plastic toys, food that comes in plastic, plastic spoons, etc., etc. We love this wooden spoon from Ayla!

Wes was even lucky?!?!?! enough to play with some of my old toys!

And, he LOVED Grammie's big windows!

Jane, Mike and Amelie were so much fun, and really knew how to speak Wes' language!

My friend Sandi and her son, Gavin, and her mom, Lin, also stopped by, and it was great to see them!

Our next stop was Grandma and Grandpa's house and we were so excited that Chris, Tammy, Jake and Hayley stopped by for breakfast!

Wes thought the food tasted so much better when it came from Aunt Tammy!

Grandpa's recliner was a big hit--can you tell who is in constant motion?

Dad and Sue have a Grandparent's Pass to the Mystic Aquarium, so we all went there after breakfast. Wesley loved Jake's Celtics hat--the one team my brother and I can agree on :).

Wesley and I were admiring the freshwater skates from the Amazon.

It was pretty chilly--cold enough that these Blackfooted African Penguins were lined up to go inside!

I loved seeing my old friends the Steller Sea Lions, and we liked their pool mates, Northern Fur Seals and Harbor Seals as well.

Grandma had to really reach to keep Wes from crawling away on the Titanic!

Back at home, Jake was trying to build a tower and Wes wanted to help. Jake was trying to entice him away with a toy, but it wasn't working!

Finally, success!

I was also excited to see my high school friend Julie and her daughter, who is two months older than Wesley.

Do you see that excited look on his face? That's because Grandpa let Wes do what no one else lets him do--grab his necklace!

Well, it was a great trip. We loved seeing everyone and enjoyed being near the water, but it's been so long since I've posted because the little man got sick upon our return. He's better now, though!
