Wes and Phil played at the airport before we departed.

Our flight was originally scheduled for 1, then it was moved to 4, and then delayed until almost 7. Our saving grace? Meeting my friend and co-science teacher, Martha, in the airport. She and Wes had a lot of fun playing!

While we arrived late at night, the next day was packed with fun and time with family! Our first stop was to the local flea market.

Wes loved looking at all of the cool, bright stuff!

After a few laps in the parking lot, though, I finally got him to take a much needed nap.

Our main mission at the flea market was to get Wes a highchair. Mission accomplished!

Despite the fairly cool weather and strong winds, we decided to go to the beach after lunch. I couldn't wait to see the ocean and put the little man in the sand.

Four generations of beach lovers.

The first thing Wes did when we put him down was dig in the sand with his shovel. Who knew that was instinctual?

Eventually, he did get his hands in there. (Please note the dimples on the back of his hand. These are one of my favorite things about the little one!)

Wes also really loved the birds and he now does a fantastic sea gull cry!

I should give credit here to Grammie, who took a fair amount of the Florida pictures you'll see!

After a bit, we walked down to the water

and got our feet wet!

It was only later that day, at bathtime, that we really got wet, though. It was windy and cold!

This is Wes at bedtime...he doesn't look too tired, does he? But, he did LOVE this rocking horse that Grammie got him!

He also loved playing peek-a-boo with Grandpa to stall bedtime!
